I was 12 when my youngest nephew was 9 (for context, my sister is 19 years older than me), and his father was impatient like this when it came to his homework. He had difficulties in school and one time when I was visiting he said something so hotrible to him (I don't remember now) I called my mom crying telling her to come pick me up because I just couldn't sit there and listen to my poor nephew take it.. it didnt matter how much I and my oldest nephew tried to encourage him and tell him to ignore his father... his confidence suffered because of it :( Makes me sad.

This was me when I was little I couldn’t get my head round how to read the time, it’s was one thing I just couldn’t get and getting the reaction “how do you not know this” or “how can you understand” find out later in life I had ADHD and it was misdiagnosed as BPD.

My dad did this. They didnt know i had ADHD(late diagnosis) but that doesnt matter. Dont teach your kids if you dont have the patience. He would yell at me until i cried.

Is it possible the dad has ADHD too. I raised two boys with it. It takes educating parents on how to understand their child. And there the medicine they need to help their brain slow down so they can absorb learning. The father untrained and the little boy has no medicine so this moment will not get better.
